The desire to be a parent and have a family is a common goal of many people, including LGBT women and men. RMA at Jefferson and RMA of Central Pennsylvania at PinnacleHealth are pleased to offer reproductive services to the LGBT community in a welcoming and friendly environment.
We have helped many same sex couples and transgender individuals and their partners become parents. We begin the process with a consultation that helps couples understand their options, so that they can make informed decisions on how best to plan for their family.
Our services include donor sperm insemination, egg donation—using both known and unknown donors—and surrogacy. In addition, sperm and egg cryopreservation are available to preserve fertility for transgender people. Thanks to the availability of effective fertility procedures, same sex couples and transgender men and women will have an excellent chance of achieving pregnancy.
There are legal challenges that can affect the rights of transgender or same sex parents. We work with many local community organizations and lawyers to ensure that all legal, ethical, and medical concerns are appropriately addressed for each of our patients.
RMA at Jefferson and RMA of Central Pennsylvania at PinnacleHealth are proud members of GLMA: Health Professionals Advancing LGBT Equality formerly known as the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association. GLMA’s mission is to ensure equality in healthcare for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals and healthcare providers.
